Cher(e) jeune, merci d’avoir un coeur ouvert à l’idée de cheminer vers le Sacrement de la Confirmation. Comme curé de la paroisse, et avec la paroisse toute entière, nous prions pour toi d’une façon bien spéciale au cours de cette démarche que tu entreprends.
Cette année, en raison de la Covid-19, le processus doit être significativement adapté si on compare aux années précédentes.
Premièrement, il n’y aura pas de cérémonie de la Confirmation avec un grand groupe : ce sera par petits groupes de 2 ou 3 que les jeunes recevront la Confirmation. À cause de cette façon de procéder, une permission spéciale m’a été donnée pour que je puisse conférer ce sacrement aux jeunes de ma paroisse au nom de notre évêque Mgr Guy Desrochers.
Deuxièmement, la catéchèse de préparation se fera aussi différemment. Nous utiliserons un programme que nous avons trouvé sur internet. Le seul inconvénient est que c’est un programme en anglais seulement. En s’inscrivant à ce programme, le/la candidat(e) à la Confirmation peut faire la préparation à son rythme, et lorsque le programme est complété, un certificat est disponible en version PDF.
Le programme est divisé en sections, et composé de textes, de vidéos, de quizz et de références supplémentaires pour approfondissement. Pour obtenir le certificat à la fin du programme, il faut au minimum avoir écouté chaque vidéo et complété chaque quizz.
En plus d’obtenir le certificat du programme, il faut :
- s’inscrire en envoyant un courriel à la paroisse
- fournir la date du baptême du jeune
- fournir le certificat de baptême du jeune (si le jeune a été baptisé ailleurs que nos 3 paroisses d’Astorville, Bonfield et Corbeil)
- le jeune doit écrire une courte lettre adressée à Mgr Guy Desrochers indiquant les raisons pour lesquelles il/elle demande le Sacrement de la Confirmation
- nous fournir le certificat attestant avoir complété le programme de préparation

Dear parents, thank you for accompanying your child on this journey to the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Dear candidate, thank you for having an open heart to the idea of journeying towards the Sacrament of Confirmation. As parish priest, and with the whole parish, we pray for you in a very special way all throughout this adventure that you are starting.
This year, because of Covid-19, the process has to be significantly adapted if we compare to previous years.
First, we will not have a group ceremony for Confirmation : it will be in small groups of 2 or 3 candidates at a time to receive Confirmation. Due to this way of doing, a special permission was granted to me so I could confer the Sacrament of Confirmation to the youth of my parish on behalf of our bishop, His Excellency Guy Desrochers.
Second, the catechesis preparation will also be done differently. We will use a program that we have found on the web. It is an English program from the USA. By registering to that program, the candidate to the Sacrament of Confirmation will be able to do the preparation at his/her own pace, and when completed, a certificate in PDF version will be available.
The program is divided in sections, and composed of texts, videos, quizzes, and supplement materials for reference and deepening in the various topics. To get the certificate at the end of the program, the candidate must have at a minimum watched every video and completed every quiz.
Aside from obtaining the certificate from the program, one must :
- register with the parish by sending us an email
- provide the date of baptism of the candidate
- provide the certificate of baptism of the candidate (if baptized elsewhere than our 3 parishes of Astorville, Bonfield, and Corbeil)
- the candidate must write a short letter addressed to Bishop Guy Desrochers stating the reasons that he/she has to ask for the Sacrament of Confirmation
- provide us the certificate issued at the end of the program.
